Kimberlé Crenshaw, winner of Community Champion AwardKimberlé Crenshaw of UCLA and Columbia Law School was presented the Community Champion Award by actress Kathryn Joosten.

For many years Kimberlé has worked on issues related to inequality, discrimination and exclusion. Her work has taken her around the world and had a positive impact on social inclusion policy.

Actor and comedian Garrett Morris presented the lifetime achievement award to Los Angeles Supervisor Mark Ridley Thomas for over 30 years dedication to the community.

Mr Morris has had a long and distinguished career including being an original cast member on Saturday Night Live. After numerous roles he still acts and runs a comedy club in Los Angeles

Supervisor Thomas has served on Los Angeles City Council, California State Senate and Assembly.

Vinny GreenActor Jason Isaacs presented the Synergy Teamwork Award to Vinny Green for her work with the Children of the Wilshire Boulevard Temple School.

The students of the Wilshire Boulevard Temple School who have all been donating their change to help provide educational scholarships for women living at a New Way of Life.

Cassandra Alvarado, winner of Self-Determination AwardCassandra Alvarado was presented the Self-Determination Award by Susan Burton

After years of problems, Cassandra was determined to improve the lives of her and her daughter. With A New Way of Life’s help, she has received assistance and training and overcome the barriers faced by those with past convictions.

Dr Nina Gray, winner of Community Partner AwardDr Nina Gray was presented the Community Partner Award by Charlotte Ross for her work in providing dental services to A New Way of Life’s clients.

Nina works for a number of charitable projects and strongly believes in using her skills beyond her own practice.
