In Los Angeles – home to the largest reentry population in the United States – transforming lives through the provision of direct services is essential, but not enough.
For this reason, we are also dedicated to facilitating a grassroots community organizing effort that can amass enough political power to reverse the discriminatory policies and practices affecting prisoners, former prisoners and others with criminal records.
We recognize the formerly incarcerated must be empowered to be a voice of change in the age of mass incarceration.
Together, we are in solidarity with All of Us or None and Women Organizing for Justice & Opportunity. Our Policy Department is moving the needle for change from Los Angeles to Sacramento to Washington, DC.
We have initiated and continue to identify and formulate forward-thinking policies and wise criminal justice alternatives across the region, state and nation.
